Career Fair Opens at the New York Auto Show Tuesday, April 17 & Wednesday, April 18, 2001

    NEW YORK, March 29 The New York International Automobile
Show will play host to the first annual Automotive Career Fair on April 17 and
18 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The Career Fair will include various auto
manufacturers, suppliers, postsecondary schools, and dealers and is aimed at
junior and senior high school students from across the tri-state area.

    "It is tremendously important that students understand how dynamic and
interesting careers in the automotive industry can be," said Mark Schienberg,
president of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association.  "Our
industry is crying out for talented, well trained employees.  The New York
Auto Show is a perfect venue to show young people how exciting and lucrative
the auto industry can be.

    The Automotive Career Fair is held during Automotive Education Week at the
New York International Auto Show.  Also featured during the week is the New
York State and national finals of the National Automotive Technology
Competition, a vocational education event supported by all major auto
companies to promote careers in the auto industry.  The Competition gives the
finest two-person teams of high school automotive students the opportunity to
win over $3 million in scholarships, new cars, and other related prizes.
