Foamex Appoints Norma B. Carter as General Counsel

    LINWOOD, Pa.--March 28, 2001--Foamex International Inc. announced today the appointment of Norma B. Carter, (53), as Executive Vice President and General Counsel.
    The announcement was made by John Televantos, President and Chief Executive Officer of Foamex.
    "Norma is a versatile legal executive, with expertise in a broad range of corporate activities," Televantos said. "Her knowledge of acquisitions, finance and international operations will be invaluable to us as we expand our global presence and strengthen our corporate capital structure."
    Carter began her career in 1974 at the Anti-trust Division of the United States Department of Justice. From 1981 through 1998, she held various legal positions with Campbell Soup Company, most recently as Vice President - Legal. At Campbell, Carter was key legal advisor on numerous acquisitions and divestitures in various countries in Europe, Asia and South America as well as the United States. When Vlasic Foods International, Inc. was spun off from Campbell in 1998, Carter joined Vlasic as Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, participating in two major financing programs for the newly formed company.
    Carter holds a BA in History from William Smith College and a JD with Honors from Rutgers University School of Law. She succeeds Phil Smith, who had served as Legal Counsel for Foamex since 1993.
