Exide Technologies Receives Toyota Value Improvement Award

ATLANTA, March 27 Exide Technologies recently
received a Certificate of Achievement from Toyota Motor Manufacturing North
America in recognition of Exide's contribution to Toyota's Value Improvement
program during 2000.

Exide Technologies, the global leader in providing electrical energy
solutions, was presented the award at Toyota's annual business meeting earlier
this month. This is the 11th time since 1989 that Toyota has recognized Exide
Technologies for its continuous improvements.

"Exide Technologies' contribution to the overall value of Toyota cars and
trucks built in North America is a significant achievement and source of pride
to all Exide employees," said Thomas O. Minner, President of Exide
Technologies' Transportation Business Group.

Exide Technologies supplies the original equipment batteries to Toyota's
North American plants in Georgetown, KY; Princeton, IN and Cambridge, Ontario,
Canada. The batteries are manufactured at the company's facility in
Shreveport, LA.

Exide Technologies has annualized revenues of approximately $3 billion and
has operations in 89 countries and 21,000 employees. The company serves both
the industrial and transportation markets.

Industrial applications include network-power batteries for
telecommunications systems, fuel cell load-leveling, electric utilities,
railroads, photovoltaic (solar-related power) and other critical
uninterruptible power supply markets; and motive-power batteries for a broad
range of equipment uses, including lift trucks, mining and commercial electric
vehicles.

Transportation uses include automotive, heavy-duty truck, agricultural,
marine and other batteries; and new technologies being developed for hybrid
vehicles and new 42-volt automotive applications.
