ENGLEWOOD, Colo.-The SCCA Pro Racing Speedvision World Challenge has announced two additions to its 2001 Speedvision GT and Touring Car Schedules. The Speedvision GT Championship will travel to the Tenneco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit June 15-17, while the Speedvision Touring Car Championship will hold an additional race on the Memorial Day Lime Rock Park Grand Prix. Additionally, Mont-Tremblant has been dropped from the schedule.

The Speedvision GT Championship joins the CART FedEx Championship Series for the first time since Vancouver, 1999 on the 20th annual Grand Prix of Detroit Weekend. This will be the series' first-ever appearance on the streets of Belle Isle, located between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario in the Detroit River.

"Our participation on the Tennaco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit Weekend is something we've been working toward for some time," said Mitch Wright, Speedvision World Challenge General Manager. "We're delighted to be back with CART, which offers great exposure for the series, competitors and all our associated sponsors. Additionally, with so many competitive Speedvision GT manufacturer headquarters in Detroit, our race offers the motor city an opportunity to watch its production cars in action."

Initially scheduled as a single-race weekend, the Speedvision Touring Car Championship will hold two contests on the May 25-28 weekend at Lime Rock Park, as the featured race on Saturday and the event closer on Monday.

Lime Rock is offering race fans a special way to get on the inside of both the Speedvision GT and Touring Car action through the World Challenge Fan Club. World Challenge Fan Club activities include track ride-arounds, hospitality privileges, fan forums and marque corrals for a low price. For information, contact Lime Rock Park at 1-800-RACE-LRP.

"Lime Rock Park is a great Speedvision Touring Car track, and we're excited to add a second race on the weekend," said Wright. "Lime Rock is working hard at promoting both the Speedvision GT and Touring Car races with programs like its World Challenge Fan Club. We're happy to have them afford this opportunity for the Touring Cars."

"We are thrilled to be able to add a second World Challenge Touring Car race to our schedule and give race fans four great races on Monday," said Garret Mudd, Lime Rock Park General Manager. "The close racing, door banging action over the past couple of years have made the Touring Cars a favorite of our fans and will provide a great finale to our traditional sport car weekend."
