Carlisle Announces the Acquisition of EcoStar, Inc.

SYRACUSE, N.Y.--March 26, 2001--Carlisle SynTec, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Carlisle Companies, Inc., has acquired EcoStar, Inc. of Vernon Hills, Illinois, an emerging participant in the premium steep-slope roofing market.
The addition of EcoStar enables Carlisle to participate in the residential roofing market while complementing its flat roof commercial products. EcoStar's unique, environmentally-friendly synthetic roofing tiles, made from recycled rubber and plastic, fit well with SynTec's manufacturing expertise. Carlisle plans to utilize EcoStar's capabilities to develop additional roofing products for the steep-slope roofing market.
"We are very pleased with the acquisition," stated John Altmeyer, President of Carlisle SynTec. "We see an opportunity for polyolefin-based products to move into the residential roofing market by offering performance advantages, high aesthetics and reduced weight at a lower cost. Coupling EcoStar with Carlisle's resources and know-how will accelerate its expansion into the premium steep-slope roofing market, both in residential and commercial construction." Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
