Murata Electronics Introduces The GRM 615 Series Capacitor

    SMYRNA, Ga.--March 26, 2001--

High Q Component Increases Performance and Battery Life in Mobile and
    Handheld Devices

Murata Electronics North America (http://www.murata.com), a world-leading innovator in electronics, today announced the introduction of its GRM 615 Series, with a capacitance range of 0.1 - 20pf Offered in standard E24 steps.
The component's most notable benefits include higher Q, less power consumption and decreased size (0402). With these advancements, the higher Q and resulting lower loss translates into greater battery life for mobile and hand held devices.
"With the demand of wireless products on the rise globally, companies such as ours must develop innovative devices that meet increasing consumer demands. The GRM 615 Series does exactly that," said Frank Guiney, Group Product Manager for Murata Electronics. "Additionally, it allows engineers greater design flexibility to produce more cutting-edge products."
This capacitor utilizes copper inner electrode technology. The resistivity is approximately 10 percent lower than that of common silver and palladium electrodes. Design engineers find this critically important because these parts perform better at higher frequencies and consume less power. This benefit is critical in wireless communications and high frequency applications - particularly in the cell phone sectors.
Murata's GRM 615 Series is widely available at a cost of approximately $.05 per capacitor. Inventory will be supplied by the company's manufacturing plant in Japan. Customers currently using the component include those in the mobile telecommunications and RF Module industries.
