Detroit Diesel and NEXIQ Technologies Partner
on Pocket Diagnostic Link
DETROIT, March 23 Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) and
NEXIQ Technologies, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: NEXQ), are partnering to develop
a new handheld diagnostic solution for DDEC(R) (Detroit Diesel Electronic
Controls). Together, they will provide a Palm OS(TM) platform solution to
read and capture select Detroit Diesel engine data quickly and easily. NEXIQ
will develop the Palm-based hardware and vehicle adapter. DDC will offer this
technology, named Pocket Diagnostic Link(TM) (PDL) through its worldwide
distributor organization. PDL is targeted to be released second quarter 2001.
"This easy-to-use diagnostic tool is one more facet in our comprehensive
approach to customer support. It gives customers and service bay technicians
a 'quick look' tool that is small, lightweight and highly mobile. Pocket
Diagnostic Link is ideally suited for the many applications that don't justify
the use of a full featured diagnostic tool, such as our Detroit Diesel
Diagnostic Link(R) PC software. PDL will find broad application with service
writers and maintenance managers. With PDL, they can easily identify active
fault codes, determine ECM software version and review critical operating data
and performance settings. This allows them to efficiently schedule exactly
the attention the vehicle needs, if any, without using valuable shop space and
mechanic time unnecessarily. We're delighted to partner with NEXIQ on the
development of this solution. Their industry-leading diagnostics expertise is
an essential element in our Palm-based product," said Detroit Diesel's Service
System Manager, Everett Downey.
"We're proud of our long, successful relationship with a world leading
engine provider like Detroit Diesel," said NEXIQ Chairman and CEO, John R.
Allard. "Our participation in the development of this important Detroit
Diesel Palm solution is in line with where NEXIQ is headed as a company. Our
focus is on technologically innovative solutions for service facilities and
commercial vehicles."
