March 23, 2001FAIRFIELD, N.J.—The U.S. F2000 National Championship continues its unmatched Career Options Package for the year 2001. Once again, the Career Options Package exceeds $100,000 in value, with a variety of tests and financial incentives to assist the 2001 Champion in moving up the motorsports racing ladder.
Over the past several years, a number of F2000 graduates have competed and excelled in the Indy Racing Northern Light Series. Currently the U.S. F2000 National Championship is in negotiations with Treadway Racing and expects to conclude an arrangement that will provide a full-day post-season test in one of its cars for the U.S. F2000 Champion. For the past three seasons A.J. Foyt Racing has provided a test to the U.S. F2000 National Champion.
A frequent next step after F2000 graduation is a stop in the Dayton Indy Lights Championship. As an Official Development Series of CART, drivers in the series often progress directly into the FedEx Championship Series. To assist drivers in making the move from the U.S. F2000 to Indy Lights, a full engine lease is being provided to the F2000 Champion, if he chooses to compete in the 2002 Indy Lights Championship.
“We’ve had great success with F2000 graduates in the Dayton Indy Lights Championship over the years,” said Dayton Indy Lights President Roger Bailey. “I look forward to continuing our relationship with the U.S. F2000 National Championship, and watching the stars of tomorrow move up the motorsports racing ladder.”
Perhaps the most common destination for F2000 graduates is the CART Toyota Atlantic Championship. Every year, F2000 graduates excel in the series, often dominating the top of the point standings. In 2001, the association between the U.S. F2000 and Toyota Atlantics continues, with the F2000 Champion receiving a full-day, post-season test with a top Atlantic team. In addition, if the F2000 Champion chooses to compete in Atlantics, he will receive a 50 percent discount on all CART Toyota Atlantic race entry fees for the year, as well as five free sets of race tires provided by the Yokohama Tire Corporation.
“The CART Toyota Atlantic Championship is extremely pleased to be an integral part of the Career Options Package,” said CART Toyota Atlantic President Vicki O’Connor. “We believe in the talent of the U.S. F2000, and look forward to the continued success of the program.”
New to the package in 2001 is the addition of a test in a Grand-Am Sports Racer II car. Archangel Motorsport Services, who captured the inaugural Sports Racer II Championship in 2000, will provide the U.S. F2000 with a test in the off-season. Last year, F2000 graduates Ryan Hampton and Larry Oberto captured the championship winning six of nine races.
“As a former U.S. F2000 team we have always believed in the quality of the series,” said Michael Johnson, Archangel Motorsport Services owner. “With the success we’ve had with F2000 graduates in the car it makes sense to offer a test to a U.S. F2000 driver in the off-season.”
The U.S. F2000 National Championship Career Options Package ensures that the champion is rewarded for winning and has the opportunity to move up the motorsports racing ladder—one more reason why the U.S. F2000 National Championship is the choice of the world's best young drivers.
“We are delighted to offer this enhanced career options package to our champion,” said Dan Andersen, series co-owner. “As North America’s premier training series it is our goal to provide drivers the best opportunity to move up the motorsports ladder and succeed.”
