Lear Corp.'s Amtex Joint Venture Earns NUMMI Triple Crown Award

Other Lear Operations Recognized by Toyota for Quality, Cost and Delivery

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 22 Amtex Inc., the joint venture
between Lear Corporation and Nagoya, Japan-based Hayashi-Telempu,
was presented the Triple Crown Award by New United Motor Manufacturing Inc.
(NUMMI) for achieving performance excellence and meeting all of the
automaker's targets in quality, cost and delivery.

Lear also was recognized recently by Toyota Motor Manufacturing North
America, in a separate awards program for quality, cost and delivery
excellence at other operations within the company.

Amtex supplies NUMMI with floor carpeting, trunk lining, spare tire
covers, dashboard insulators and various other interior trim products. NUMMI
is the Fremont-based joint venture between Toyota and General Motors
Corporation that employs 4,500 team members who produce three vehicles -- the
Toyota Corolla sedan, the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, and the Chevrolet Prizm
sedan.

"Customer satisfaction is our Number One goal and we are honored to be
recognized by NUMMI for excellence in quality, cost and delivery," said Bob
Rossiter, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lear Corporation. "I am
very proud of the outstanding efforts and results achieved by the entire Amtex
team in Manteca."

Manteca, Calif.-based Amtex is one of only eleven NUMMI suppliers to win
the prestigious award out of more than 260 suppliers eligible. This year
marks Amtex's third honor by NUMMI, making it the only supplier to achieve
Triple Crown status in three out of four years. Curt Campbell, President of
Amtex accepted the award at a banquet held in Fremont, Calif., earlier this
month.

In a separate awards program in early March, Lear was recognized by Toyota
for hitting all its targets and agreements related to quality achievement,
value improvement and delivery performance for components supplied by Lear to
the North American automaker. Lear supplies interior parts and systems for
the Toyota Avalon, Camry and Corolla sedans, Solara coupe, Sienna minivan,
Sequoia sport-utility vehicle and Tacoma and Tundra pickups.

"We are deeply committed to being best in class across all our product
lines in an effort to meet or exceed our customers' expectations," Rossiter
continued. "It is a great honor to be recognized by Toyota for our efforts in
these areas."

Toyota's Annual Business Meeting and Awards ceremony, held in Covington,
Ky., acknowledges those suppliers who have met Toyota's highest standards in
quality, delivery and value improvement for parts, materials, and
transportation. The program brings together the automaker's approximately 500
North American suppliers to share expectations for the coming business year
and to recognize outstanding performance among suppliers.
