CTS Interconnect Systems Business Opens New U.S. Manufacturing Facility

    Business Editors

ELKHART, Ind.--March 22, 2001--CTS Corporation today announced the opening of a new U.S. manufacturing operation to supply custom backpanels and high-end systems integration to a growing North American customer base, specifically for the communications and computer equipment markets. The new CTS Interconnect Systems facility, located in Londonderry, New Hampshire, has 83,000 sq.ft. of manufacturing capacity, which allows CTS to expand its products and services through complete life cycle management; i.e., new product introduction, volume integration, total system test and direct order fulfillment, which involves shipment of the finished system to our customer's customer.
CTS established its first North American backpanel and systems integration business in a 20,000 sq.ft facility in Hudson, N.H., in late 1997. Since that time, overall growth in the customer base, and increased vertical integration have necessitated the larger manufacturing facility. In addition to the new Londonderry, N.H. facility, CTS Interconnect Systems offers global backpanel and systems assembly at both its headquarters operation in Glasgow, Scotland and in its manufacturing facility in Tianjin, China.
Ian Archer, vice president and general manager of CTS Interconnect Systems, stated, "CTS currently provides direct, vertically integrated systems to computer equipment and network systems customers, as well as optical equipment providers in North America. As the internet drives the need for higher speeds and increasingly complex technologies, we also support a number of key start-up companies with a complete product management service, from conception to end-of-life. We recognize that our customer's competitiveness depends on rapid time-to-market and that they are frequently the drivers of next generation technology. This new facility ensures that CTS is well positioned to provide a managed, complete integrated interconnect system capability to our North American customer base."
