AAA Texas Presents Top Funny Car Drivers for Youth & Education Day
HOUSTON--(BW SportsWire)--March 21, 2001--They are an intricate part of the number one racing team in the country. They are funny car drivers Gary Densham and Tony Pedregon -- top drivers on John Force's Racing team.Although they are in town to compete in the O'Reilly Nationals, it is what they are doing in their spare time that has teens listening up. Both are using the attraction of their motorsports career to motivate young students and assist them in preparing for life after graduation.
Densham, a former school teacher, is considered the "World's Fastest School Teacher," with three Winston top 10 finishes to his credit. Pedregon who drives second car on Force's Racing team, has posted the quickest quarter mile time in Funny Car history at 4.779 seconds.
Densham and Pedregon are travelling throughout the Greater Houston area on March 22 to encourage students to stay in school and get a good education.
Densham serves as chief spokesperson for AAA Texas' youth and education initiatives, which are focused on encouraging young people to make wise decisions in their personal lives. Densham has been assisted by Pedregon for the past several years in expanding the initiatives into the Hispanic community.
AAA Texas, an affiliate of the American Automobile Association, has been serving Texans since 1905. Today, AAA Texas offers its members a full service travel agency, auto-related and financial services, as well as public safety programs and legislative advocacy.
