TRACKS: Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum to Offer Special Group Tours

March 21, 2001INDIANAPOLIS-- The Indianapolis Motor Speedway's Hall of Fame Museum will offer the public an insider's view of the world-famous Speedway grounds with eight 1.5-hour tours this summer.
Dates for these grounds tours:
- Saturday, June 9
- Sunday, June 10
- Saturday, June 16
- Sunday, June 17
- Saturday, July 14
- Sunday, July 15
- Saturday, Aug. 11
- Sunday, Aug. 12
The tours will offer an in-depth view of the Speedway's evolution over the past 92 years.
Participants will receive a guided tour of the 2.5-mile oval and unprecedented access to the Speedway's most important landmarks, including the Hall of Fame Museum, Gasoline Alley Suites, the start/finish line and the famous "Yard of Bricks," the media center complex, the Pagoda Control Tower's timing and scoring suite, the victory platform and the Gasoline Alley garage area.
"Fans interested in learning more about the early years of the Speedway as well as its present-day operations will gain a wealth of knowledge from our grounds tours," said Ellen Bireley, manager, IMS Hall of Fame Museum. "From the history of the Speedway's brick surface to the latest in timing and scoring technology, they will see it all."
Tickets for the tours are $25 per person and are available at the Hall of Fame Museum. Tour tickets can also be ordered by mail. Send a check or money order payable to IMSF to:
