March 21, 2001John and Mike Coughlin continue to stay focused on the big picture. The team recently brought their small block engine program in-house and is starting to see some benefits.
"We had the steam to qualify at the Mac Tools Gatornationals," explained Mike. "We were running competitive mph all weekend. We just did not do it efficiently and effectively."
"We all sat down and talked about all of the possibilities as a group," added John. "Then we made some decisions regarding our set up for Houston. The entire team is eager to get to Houston and begin making changes that will get us back on track. Everyone on Team Jeg's has been working nonstop to get us back on top."
The Mac Tools Gatornationals were rescheduled due to rain so no points will be awarded until the event is completed. The season remains young and there is plenty of reshuffling in the points in store for fans and competitors. Mike Coughlin is currently No. 10 with 32 points. A strong performance at the O'Reilly Nationals could move him firmly into the top five. John Coughlin is resting in the No. 12 spot and ready to strike. He is a mere 22 points away from breaking back into the top ten.
"Now is the time to make a move up in the points," commented Mike. "Having success early in the season can really get the momentum going in the right direction."
"We are capable of winning every race that we compete in," said John. "If we stay focused putting a yellow and black Jeg's Mail Order Chevy S-10 in the winner's circle is just part of the equation."
