ASA: Hansen gets sponsor for ASA Event at USA International Speedway

Consistent finishes, second-place in points has Hansen off to good 2001 start
PENDLETON, Ind. – Scott Hansen and Fanetti Motorsports announced today that Russet Potato Exchange will sponsor their number 5 Ford Taurus for the March 24th ASA ACDelco Series Florida 200 event at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, F la. The event is scheduled to take the green at 9 p.m. (Eastern) and will be telecast LIVE on TNN: The National Network.
Russet Potato Exchange is a Wisconsin-based potato operation that supplies fresh potatoes to Super Valu, who serves close to 5,000 grocery stores nationwide. Super Valu currently has a buying office and a Save-A-Lot Distribution Center located in Lakeland, making it an ideal location to begin their effort with the Fanetti team.
Hansen’s Vortec-powered Taurus will carry the decals of two of Russet Potato’s biggest brands, “Mr. Tasty” and “Biggin’s Big Bakin’ Taters.”
“We think this is the perfect time and place for our operation to test the waters of sponsoring a team and veterans like Scott Hansen and Fanetti Motorsports match our veteran profile to perfection,” said Russett Potato Exchange spokesman Joel Schulz. “Sco tt will have the decals of two of our very popular brands of potatoes, along with our customer service phone number, 1-800-Mr-Tasty.
“Having the chance to share an event like this with our friends at Super Valu makes it a great event. We are really looking forward to the weekend.”
Hansen has been a regular in the ASA ACDelco Series for several years since joining the series full-time in 1989, when he was crowned Rookie of the Year. Hansen is fifth on the all-time career wins list with ASA, amassing 26 wins over his 16-year ASA caree r. Hansen is known for his prowess in a number of racing vehicles, and still currently spends some time in Busch Grand National, Craftsman Truck Series, All-Pro and a number of other series.
Hansen has had an exceptional start to his 2001 season, still seeking that first ASA National Championship. In the first two races of this season, Hansen has two top-sixth place performances, finishing second in the season-opening race at St. Augustine Spe edway.
Practice for the Florida 200 begins noon on Friday, March 23 with qualifications taking place at 5 p.m. The 50-lap qualifier race is scheduled to begin at 7:30, which will conclude racing activity for the day. On Saturday, the on-track autograph session be gins at 7 p.m. with pre-race ceremonies starting at 8:15. The 200-lap event goes green at 9 p.m and will be telecast live on TNN Sports.
