NASCAR WCUP: Ken Schrader ready for big race on a small track

"Someone asked me at the end of last year what racing-related gift I would give someone for Christmas if I could give them anything I wanted. I told them I would strap someone in the car with me at Bristol for our final practice on Saturday. I wouldn't take them with me for the race because I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but at least they would get a feel for how small the place gets with 42 other cars bumper to bumper, going around in circles.

"Bristol isn't my best track for performance because it is way to easy to get wrecked. I've run pretty decent there over the years, and last fall the "M&M's"® Racing Team had a great race. We finished 12th with all the fenders still on the car, so we called the night a success."

Schrader's Bristol Highlights...

It was another successful weekend for the "M&M's"® Racing Team and crew chief Newt Moore, finishing 13th at Darlington. The solid performance kept the "M&M's"® Racing Team in the top 10 in driver points.

Schrader's best finish at Bristol is second in 1994, but he also has a string of three third-place finishes at the Tennessee track. Schrader finished third in the fall of 1991 and at both races in 1992. His best qualifying effort at the track is third.

Ken Schrader will sign autographs at the Food City Family Race Night at the Meadowview Convention Center in Kingsport, Tenn., on Thursday, March 22, from 5-7 p.m. There will also be a search amongst the autograph seekers for THE MOST COLORFUL FAN(tm) of NASCAR® with one person being chosen to be a weekly contestant.
