TRW Names Guenther To Lead Its Tactical Systems Business

    RESTON, Va.--March 20, 2001--TRW Inc. has selected Otto J. Guenther to serve as vice president and general manager of its tactical systems business.
    Guenther will oversee TRW's battlefield digitization, command and control, and system engineering activities for the U.S. Army. He will be based in Fairfax, Va.
    "Guenther brings to TRW decades of military experience and a solid understanding of the dynamics of information technology," said Dr. Donald C. Winter, executive vice president and general manager of TRW Systems & Information Technology Group. "We believe his background and knowledge are a perfect fit for our tactical systems business."
    Guenther comes to TRW from Computer Associates International (CAI), where he served as general manager of Federal Systems Group, a $300 million operation that provided IT products and services to the federal market area. In 1997, just prior to accepting his position at CAI, Guenther retired from the U.S. Army, holding the rank of lieutenant general.
    During his 34-year military career, Guenther worked in the Army's C4I arena, accruing more than 20 years of acquisition and procurement experience. After passage of the Information and Technology Act by Congress in 1995, he became the U.S. Army's first chief information officer. Other key leadership assignments include: commanding general for both Fort Monmouth, N.J. and the Communications Electronics Command; program executive officer for the Army's tactical communications equipment; project manager for the Tactical Automated Data Distribution System and commander for the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulatory Council.
    Guenther received a bachelor's degree in economics from Western Maryland College in Westminster, Md., and a master's degree in procurement and contracting from the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Fla.
