National R.V. Holdings, Inc. Warns of First Quarter 2001
Loss
PERRIS, Calif., March 19 National R.V. Holdings, Inc.
, today announced that it expects to report a loss of $0.12-$0.16
per share for the first quarter, compared to earnings of $0.62 for the same
quarter last year. Net sales are expected to be 35%-40% below last year's
first quarter sales of $105.3 million.
RV industry sales, which began to decline in the second half of last year,
have fallen sharply in the first quarter as poor weather and low consumer
confidence levels plague retail sales. Approximately $0.10 of the loss is
attributable to an additional warranty accrual related to weight issues on
certain of the Company's "highline" motor coaches. The loss attributable to
additional warranty is subject to revision prior to the release of final first
quarter results.
The Company also announced that it has formed an office of the chief
executive. The office is composed of the Company's president, Wayne Mertes,
its chairman, Gary Siegler, and its vice chairman, Bob Lee. The change was
decided upon by the Company's board of directors in order to bring additional
management resources to the Company during this challenging time.
