NASCAR WCUP: Dale Earnhardt Tribute Scheduled At National Corvette Museum

The National Corvette Museum has announced plans to host a tribute event, "Celebrating the Life of Dale Earnhardt", at the Museum's outdoor amphitheater at 6:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday April 18th, 2001. The outdoor event offered free to the public, will include special appearances and comments by retired NASCAR driver Darrell Waltrip, who was a close personal friend of the legendary Earnhardt. Also speaking will be Corvette race team member Andy Pilgrim, who drove with Dale and Dale Jr. in a Corvette for the Rolex 24 - Hours at Daytona race on February 3rd.

The Museum will offer a special "3" dollar rate all day to tour the Museum in conjunction with the amphitheater event, and a series of Dale Earnhardt video presentations will be featured in the Chevrolet Theater beginning at 1:00 p.m. A memorial brick ceremony will take place at 5:00 p.m. in front of the Museum, where bricks purchased by fans and supporters will be officially placed in the walkway honoring Dale. "This is our way of paying tribute and thanking Dale for the difference he made in the lives of every race fan," said Museum Executive Director Wendell Strode. "Dale made appearances at the Museum in April of 97 and in March of 98, and the response was overwhelming. He was truly dedicated to his fans. We want to take this opportunity to cordially invite fans and friends who loved and honored him, to share an evening that will embark on celebrating his life and career."

Lawn chairs and blankets will be welcome in the amphitheater area. Additional information on the Dale Earnhardt tribute event can be obtained by calling (800) 53-VETTE.
