CTS Announces New Line of Smaller VCO Modules
Business EditorsELKHART, Ind.--March 15, 2001--CTS Corporation , a global leader in wireless components design and manufacture, and a leading supplier of voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs) to the cellular handset industry, today announced four new VCO modules targeted at the high growth, dual-band, tri-mode CDMA/PCS (Code Division Multiple Access/Personal Communications System) cellular handset industry.
CTS Model Numbers ATXN1032A and KXN1458A are small, low cost, dual-band oscillators designed for both low current drain to extend battery life, and industry-leading phase noise performance for improved call handling. Model ATXN1013A is a small, dual-band VCO/PLL module designed to minimize phase noise and reduce lock times to less than 1mS (1 millisecond) for improved data transmission integrity. Model ATXN1014A is a small, dual-band synthesizer (VCO/PLL/TCXO) module that provides performance advantages similar to the ATXN1013A; but by including CTS' industry-leading temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) technology, it further reduces cellular handset size, component count and total cost.
According to Bing Harding, vice president and general manager of CTS' RF Integrated Modules Business, "The CDMA handset market has experienced growth rates in excess of 35% in recent years, with particularly strong growth in dual-band, tri-mode handsets that allow the digital features that consumers demand, such as call security, caller ID, voice mail notification, lower per minute charges and extended battery life, along with nationwide roaming capability provided by analog technology. These products offer our customers new options for both improving performance and decreasing the size, complexity and cost in their dual-band, tri-mode handset designs."
Product samples are available now. Production shipments of Models ATXN1032A, ATXN1013A and KXN1458A are scheduled to begin in the second quarter (third quarter of 2001 for Model ATXN1014A).
