Exide Technologies Promotes Two Executives In Its Transportation Business Group

    ATLANTA, March 14 Exide Technologies , the
global leader in providing electrical energy storage solutions, today
announced the promotion of Frederic Guyonneau and Craig Lewis to Vice
President positions within its Transportation Business Group.
    Guyonneau will assume the job of vice president, marketing for the
Americas, while Lewis will handle the position of vice president, branch
network. Both will be based out of Exide Technologies' Transportation Business
Group office located in the Atlanta suburb of Alpharetta, GA.
    Guyonneau will be responsible for the marketing of Exide's automotive
batteries throughout North America, including advertising, sales promotions
and brand management.  Approaching six years with the company, he previously
was the regional general manager, Latin America, for the Industrial Power
Business Group.
    Lewis, who spent nine years with Clorox Company and two years with General
Electric prior to joining Exide in 1997, will be responsible for leading
operations and sales activities of the company-owned branches, which includes
100 facilities and approximately 1,000 employees.  He was the director of
supply chain planning.

    Exide Technologies has annualized revenues of approximately $3 billion and

telecommunications systems, fuel cell loading leveling, electric utilities,

equipment uses, including lift trucks, mining and commercial vehicles.
    Transportation uses include automotive, heavy-duty truck, agricultural,
marine and other batteries, as well as new technologies being developed for
hybrid vehicles and new 42-volt automotive applications.  The company serves
