LTV Steel Wins Toyota Delivery Achievement Award
CLEVELAND, March 14 LTV Steel today announced that it was
one of only two steel mills in the United States to receive the Delivery
Achievement Award from Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Inc. The Delivery
Achievement Award recognizes 100% on-time delivery to Toyota for the year
2000.
LTV Steel produces a full line of value-added flat rolled steel for
Toyota's plant in Georgetown, Kentucky (TMMK), its parts suppliers, and the
New United Motors Manufacturing, Inc. (NUMMI) -- an automotive joint venture
between Toyota and General Motors in California. Toyota manufactures the
Camry and Avalon automobiles and Sienna minivan at the Georgetown plant and
the Corolla and GM Prism at the NUMMI plant.
"We are very proud that Toyota recognized LTV's achievements in this very
important area," said David E. Althoff, Vice President, Sales and Marketing-
Automotive. "LTV has delivered steel 100% on-time at NUMMI for over 25 months
and for over 17 months at TMMK. We could not have reached these levels
without the dedicated support of our employees who are always willing to do
whatever is required to satisfy our customers. We are committed to sustaining
this high level of performance."
