Sebring, FL (March 15, 2001) - Michael Lewis has entered his fourth season in the Trans-Am Series as a serious contender in his newly acquired, Rocketsports Jaguar XKR. The number 12 Jaguar will carry the familiar red, white and blue paint job of past years but with new attitude. .
“In off-season testing, I was really impressed by the performance of this vehicle. With all of the new body styles to choose from, I went with a proven winner in the Jaguar. Paul Gentilozzi and everyone at Rocketsports have put together a great car,” expressed Michael Lewis. “We will continue our long-standing relationship with Lozano Bros. Porting but have not made a decision yet on the engine selection. It is important for us to proceed with our fuel injection development and we are expecting better results in this new chassis and aerodynamic Jaguar bodywork.”
“With the field of drivers that are out there this year, it is vital to have a competitive car to run up at the front. I am confident that we have the equipment to win a race, now it is up to me to put it all together” continued Lewis. ”In my last two appearances at Sebring, I haven’t had much luck. It is time to turn over a new leaf.”
Michael Lewis and the Autocon Motorsports team are grateful to all of the sponsors who stood by them last season through the chassis and the fuel injected engine development programs that did not always pan out. The support continues in 2001 from Jon Lewis of American Spirit Racing, Red Line Oil and Cyclo Products.
Round One of the Trans-Am Series will be held on Friday, March 16 with tape-delayed coverage on Speedvision at 5:30 p.m. PDT.
