Exclusive - New VW Van Will Be Built
Exclusively in Poland Says just-auto.com
LONDON, March 14 http://www.just-auto.com -- Volkswagen AG
plans to build a new commercial vehicle exclusively in Poland with annual
output as high as 130,000, starting in 2003, sources told just-auto.com today.
The news which just-auto.com has exclusively broken at
http://just-auto.com/features_detail.asp?art=460&app=1 says that the model,
which is code-named VW357 and nicknamed SLW for 'Stadtlieferwagen' ('city
delivery van' in German), is expected to compete in the lightest segment of
commercial vehicles against the likes of the Peugeot Partner and Renault
Kangoo.
Suspected to be called the 'Caddy' when it is released in a couple of
years, the vehicle is going to be available in different body types, possibly
with both open and closed storage space.
The VW357 will be VW's third vehicle to be built exclusively in Eastern
Europe and could don only the VW badge. However just-auto.com has discovered
that it might sell under other marques -- possibly Skoda.
