MSC.Software Extends Numerous NASA Contracts; Leading Simulation Software Company Provides Critical Testing and Validation Products to U.S. Space Program
Business EditorsCOSTA MESA, Calif.--March 14, 2001--MSC.Software Corporation , an established information technology software and services provider helping companies worldwide develop better products faster, today announced that several NASA Space Flight Centers have extended large contracts for its simulation software.
NASA (the National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and its contractors will use MSC.Nastran to identify possible design flaws early in its project cycles, reducing time to launch, manufacturing expenses and material costs without reducing product integrity. Using MSC.Software technology, engineers and designers in diverse industries worldwide simulate reality, reducing the need to do physical prototype testing and allowing consideration of numerous design alternatives, thus saving millions of dollars.
"High-end organizations with demanding requirements, like NASA, depend on MSC.Software for mission-critical, technically advanced engineering systems," said Frank Perna Jr., chairman and CEO of MSC.Software. "By using our state-of-the-art simulation tools, organizations continue to reduce time and material costs by gaining insight into design developments before expensive process decisions are made."
NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and its contractors will continue to utilize MSC.Nastran for launch-vehicle analysis for various Space Shuttle and X-Plane Projects. NASA's Johnson Space Flight Center and its contractors will continue to use MSC.Nastran for the many payload integration and assembly missions planned for the full deployment of the Space Station. NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center will now use MSC.Nastran to simulate designs for such projects as Earth observation satellites, and the second-generation space telescope.
NASA's other centers, Ames, Dryden, JPL, Glenn, Kennedy and Langley will continue to use MSC.Software's engineering products and services. Contracts with these Centers were also renewed for the continued use of MSC.Nastran. MSC.Nastran is a widely used computer-aided-engineering tool used at NASA Centers. The recent contract extensions will enable MSC.Software to continue to support the U.S. Space Program with its proprietary products and services.
