The Timken Company Opens New Bearing Service Unit in
Mexico
CANTON, Ohio, March 13 The Timken Company today announced
the opening of a bearing reconditioning facility in Mexico City as part of its
Timken de Mexico operations. The new bearing service unit will remanufacture
railroad bearings used in locomotives and freight cars.
"The privatization of the Mexican rail system has offered The Timken
Company a profitable growth opportunity that capitalizes on our core
competencies," said Vinod K. Dasari, president - rail business. "The
combination of the privatization of the rail system and the NAFTA treaty has
resulted in rail freight moving freely between the United States and Mexico.
As the country's rail system grows, our new facility will bring customers our
technical expertise as a leader in rail bearing manufacture to provide them
with a cost efficient service of remanufacture."
