Imperial Parking Corporation Acquires Nine New Parking Locations in Seattle -- Introducing Its Automated Parking System

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--March 13, 2001-- Imperial Parking Corporation ("Impark")(AMEX:IPK) today announced the opening of nine new parking locations in Seattle, Washington.
At these new locations, Impark has enhanced operational efficiency by replacing the previous operator's "slot boxes" with Impark's pay-and-display automated parking system.
Impark's system provides customers with the option of paying with credit cards, bills or coins and produces a ticket for the customer to display on the vehicle dashboard. The system does not require an attendant, automatically issues customer receipts and provides accurate tracking and reporting of lot revenues for Impark's landlords. Additionally, the system serves as the basis for Impark's fully-integrated enforcement and collection activities, available at all of its parking facilities.
Bryan Wallner, the Company's Chief Operating Officer, was on hand to supervise the installation of Impark's system and said, "Seattle is an excellent market for us to debut our automated systems in the United States. This is the first large-scale conversion of slot boxes to Impark's automated system and we are very pleased to have an opportunity to demonstrate the revenue enhancement impact that our automated system can produce. We also view this as a very important expansion of our operations in the United States."
"We believe the U.S. parking market is ready to evolve from slot boxes and Impark stands ready to deliver our automated parking system to enable this evolution," said Impark's President and Chief Executive Officer, Charles Huntzinger. "Impark's growth in recent years has benefited from our leadership in parking automation. We have been at the forefront of converting Canadian parking operations from attended and mechanical systems to electronic pay-and-display systems. In addition, we have built a specialized infrastructure around the audit, enforcement, revenue collection and processing and reporting aspects of this approach. As more than 70% of Impark's locations are unattended, we believe we have superior knowledge and systems in the unattended parking area."
Imperial Parking Corporation (AMEX:IPK) is a leading provider of pay parking management services in North America. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, as of December 31, 2000 Impark owned, leased or managed over 1,450 parking facilities in Canada and the United States, containing more than 260,000 parking spaces.
