Cummins Approves Texaco Extended Life Coolant (TELC) for
Factory Fill
HOUSTON, March 12 The following was released today by
Equilon Enterprises LLC:
Cummins Inc. announced today that Texaco Extended Life Coolant/Anti-Freeze
(TELC) is approved for factory fill in Cummins diesel engines.
Cummins Inc., the world's largest producer of commercial diesel engines
above 50 horsepower, Texaco and Equilon Lubricants, which manufactures Texaco
Extended Life Coolant/Anti-Freeze (TELC), also announced their joint technical
teams have resolved technology issues that existed with previous use of the
Texaco product as factory fill.
The popular Texaco Extended Life Coolant -- a favorite of truckers -- can
be used as factory fill in all new Cummins ISB (B Series and ISBe), ISC
(C Series), and ISL series engines.
Cummins has also approved the one-time addition of silicate to factory
fills of Texaco Extended Life Coolant/Anti-Freeze in N14 and N14 Plus engines;
ISX and Signature engines; and ISM (M11 and M11 Plus) engines.
The coolant also can be used in all Cummins engines in aftermarket or
service-fill applications -- both drain and refill -- as well as in off-road
engines.
"Texaco, Equilon and Cummins are very pleased to inform their customers
that the Texaco brand can go back under the hood of all of the world's
trucks," said Peggy Montana, vice president of Marketing for Equilon
Lubricants, a division of Equilon Enterprises LLC.
Texaco Extended Life coolants need only one addition of Texaco Extender in
order to provide a service interval of 600,000 miles, 6 years or 12,000 hours
for on-road applications. Texaco Extended Life coolants incorporate a
patented carboxylate inhibitor technology and are intended for use in diesel,
gasoline and natural gas engines. Texaco's special technology provides
maximum protection of the basic metal alloys found in heat transfer systems.
Headquartered in Houston, Equilon Enterprises LLC is a U.S. joint venture
between Texaco and Shell Oil Company. Equilon refines and markets Shell- and
Texaco-branded products in 32 western and midwestern states and includes
Shell's and Texaco's nationwide transportation and lubricants businesses.
Cummins Inc. is a leading worldwide designer and manufacturer of diesel
