INDIANAPOLIS, Monday, March 13, 2001 - Kelley Racing filed three entries
March 12 for the 85th Indianapolis 500, with longtime teammates Scott Sharp
and Mark Dismore named as drivers of two of the cars.
Sharp and Dismore have driven for Kelley Racing in the Indy Racing Northern Light Series since the team's debut in January 1998, the longest-running teammates in the series.
The 85th Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for May 27. Entries must be postmarked by April 11. All drivers will compete for one of the 33 starting spots in the world's most prestigious auto race.
1996 Indy Racing League co-champion Sharp, from Norwalk, Conn., will attempt to make his seventh Indianapolis 500 start in the #8 Delphi Automotive Systems Dallara/Oldsmobile/Firestone, with an identical backup car entered. Robert Perez is the chief mechanic.
Sharp's best finish at Indianapolis is 10th in 1996 and 2000.
Dismore, from Greenfield, Ind., will try to make his sixth start at Indianapolis in the #28 Delphi/Bryant Heating and Cooling Dallara/Oldsmobile/Firestone, with an identical backup entered. Glenn Scott is the chief mechanic.
Dismore's best finish at Indianapolis is 11th in 2000.
Kelley Racing entered a primary and backup #20 Dallara/Oldsmobile/Firestone. The driver, car name and chief mechanic will be named later.
Jim Freudenberg is the team manager for all three Kelley entries.
