Transmission Technologies Corporation Kicks
Off The 2001 Fun Ford Weekend (FFW) Drag Racing Series At
the 11th Annual Spring Break Shoot Out in Bradenton,
Florida
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., March 9 Transmission Technologies
Corporation (TTC) announced that it has re-signed as the title sponsor of the
"TREMEC Street Bandit" class for the 2001 FFW drag racing series. This is
TTC's second year as a FFW title sponsor. The "TREMEC Street Bandit" class
was designed for naturally aspirated 11-12 second small block late model
Fords. In addition to its role as the title sponsor of the "TREMEC Street
Bandit" class, TTC has also committed to a contingency program supporting
several classes in the 2001 FFW drag racing series. TTC will payout $100 -
$300 based on the FFW contingency guidelines for the winner and runner-up in
each class. Racers must be using one of TTC's TREMEC brand transmissions, and
also display a "TREMEC Transmissions" decal on their vehicle. Qualifying
transmissions include: TREMEC T-5, TREMEC T-45, TREMEC T-56, TREMEC TR-3550
and TREMEC TKO & TKO II.
TTC kicks off its sponsorship this weekend at the FFW Spring Break
Shootout in Bradenton, FL at the newly renovated Bradenton Motorsport Park,
formerly the Desoto Memorial Drag Way. TTC engineers will be on hand to
answer questions and provide insights on the best transmission set-ups for
drag racing. "To help educate racers and spectators on transmission basics,
we will have several cut-away transmissions on display including a TREMEC T-5,
TREMEC T-56 and a TREMEC TR-3550," Said Jim Averill Marketing Manager, TTC.
"We will also be handing out free product specification brochures, and decals
throughout the weekend," continued Mr. Averill.
"Our involvement with weekend drag racing is one of the best ways to test
our transmissions in a very punishing environment. Our sponsorship of the
'TREMEC Street Bandit' class was a natural," stated Lee Davis, Vice-President
Sales & Marketing, TTC. "Our top engineering designers will attend several of
the events throughout the year to hear, and see first hand how our products
perform," continued Mr. Davis.
TTC designs, develops, manufactures, and markets TREMEC and SPICER brand
transmissions for a wide variety of vehicles, from high-performance passenger
cars and light-duty trucks, to medium-duty and Class 8 commercial trucks. TTC
is part of the UNIK group; one of Mexico's largest auto parts suppliers. UNIK
is a wholly owned subsidiary of DESC, traded on the NYSE under symbol DES.
