CertainTeed Roofing and Ventilation Team With Top NASCAR Winston Cup Driver

VALLEY FORGE, Pa., March 9 CertainTeed Corporation is
pleased to announce it has partnered with NASCAR Winston Cup driver Ward
Burton to promote the company's residential and commercial roofing products as
well as AirVent, Inc., a CertainTeed company that manufacturers a full line of
attic ventilation products, including high-performance ridge vents.
Burton, who drives the #22 Caterpillar Dodge Intrepid, finished 10th in
the Winston Cup point standings in 2000, his second consecutive top-10 points
finish. He will appear on behalf of CertainTeed's Roofing and AirVent
divisions at selected NASCAR races, customer events and company manufacturing
facilities. Burton is also the spokesman for The Contractors Edge(TM),
CertainTeed's multi-level business-building credentials program for
residential and commercial roofing contractors.
"Our customers and roofing contractors love Winston Cup racing," says Jim
Hilyard, president of CertainTeed's Roofing Products Group. "Ward is a true
professional on and off of the track and I can't think of anyone better to
help us promote our products and programs."
Burton will make a number of personal appearances for CertainTeed in 2001.
His tentative appearance schedule to date includes the company's residential
roofing plant in Ennis, Texas this month; the company's roofing plant in
Peachtree City, Georgia in April; Salisbury, Maryland in May; the company's
Norwood, Massachusetts manufacturing facility in July; and at the Indianapolis
Motor Speedway in August. Burton will also make appearances at CertainTeed
race-day hospitality events at Texas Motor Speedway, Lowe's Motor Speedway,
Michigan International Speedway, New Hampshire International Speedway, and
Talladega Superspeedway.
"I first became aware of CertainTeed two years ago when I put Grand Manor
Shangle(R) on my roof during construction of my new home," said Burton. "I
was very particular about using only high-quality building products. With its
limited lifetime warranty and uncanny slate-like appearance, Grand Manor
certainly exceeded all of my expectations. I'm proud to be associated with
such a well-respected company that sets such high standards for quality and
service."
In addition to roofing and attic ventilation products, CertainTeed
Corporation is a leading North American manufacturer of vinyl and fibercement
siding, vinyl windows, composite decking and railing, fiber glass insulation,
vinyl fence, deck and railing, and piping products. The company is
headquartered in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, and employs more than
7,000 employees at approximately 50 manufacturing facilities throughout North
America.
