Trans-Am Series Names High Tech Performance Trailers Official Trailer Will Be Presenting Sponsor For Owners’ Championship; Contingency Posting of $60,000 Cash And Products

Miami - The Trans-Am Series and the Panoz/Sanchez Group today announced that it has secured an agreement with High Tech Performance Trailers, Inc., to be the Official Trailer of the 2001 Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup.

In addition to its Official Trailer designation, High Tech Performance Trailers is also presenting sponsor of the Trans-Am Series Owners’ Championship and offers contingency awards for series’ participants.

The High Tech Performance Trailers Owners’ Championship offers $50,000 in product certificates to the top-three finishing teams in 2001, with the winning team owner claiming $25,000. High Tech will also pay a mid-season cash bonus of $10,000 to the driver who accumulates the most BFGoodrich Tires Cup Drivers’ Championship points through the completion of round five of the series in Cleveland.

As Official Trailer, High Tech Performance Trailers provides the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup with a fully-equipped state-of-the-art transporter. The High Tech trailer is used for transporting Trans-Am Series’ equipment across North America, and also serves as an on-site showroom to demonstrate High Tech’s advanced trailer product.

“We’re delighted to have High Tech Performance Trailers as our Official Trailer,” said Bob Wild, Panoz/Sanchez Group vice president of marketing. “High Tech Trailers is the preeminent transporter in the motorsports industry, and we welcome its involvement as a contingency sponsor, Owners’ Championship sponsor and Official Trailer – we could not conduct our operations as professionally and efficiently without the support of High Tech Performance Trailers.”

Early in 2001, High Tech unveiled its 85,000 square foot expansion to its existing manufacturing facility in Painesville, Ohio. Included in the state-of-the-art plant is a paint booth, a graphics facility, an in-house upholstery facility as well as a new awning facility.

“The Trans-Am Series is an ideal place to showcase our product,” said High Tech Performance Trailers president Bruce Hanusosky. “As the diversity in venues (American Le Mans and CART) and the premier nature of the events makes it a winning combination.”

Beginning this year, High Tech will feature several new designs in performance trailers. High Tech will debut its new smooth side spread-axle design as well as a new double expandable trailer for display, training and hospitality. High Tech has also made dramatic improvements in both its liftgate design and air conditioning systems. The company is developing new designs for Indy Car hospitality transporters and expects a significant increase in sales.

High Tech’s dealer and service center, Trailer’s of the East Coast, is located in Mocksville, N.C. Both facilities have pre-owned transporters in-stock and ready for immediate delivery. A short stroll through the Trans-Am Series paddock will reveal the number of new and used trailers that High Tech sold to Trans-Am competitors during the 2000 season.
