Schrader's Thoughts On New Crew Chief Newt Moore... "It is time to get the "M&M's"® Pontiac back into the top 10 and having Newt on board with us is our first step in making that happen. We've spent the last day talking about Atlanta and getting ready for this weekend. When we get on the track for practice Friday morning, it will be back to business as usual. I tell him how the car is handling and he makes the calls to get it better. We've got good people on this team, we're in a great new facility and Johnny Benson and I are communicating really well as teammates. It is not always easy to make changes, but sometimes that is the best and only thing you can do. Sammy and I had two full years together, and I wish him the best for the future."
Schrader's Atlanta Highlights...
The "M&M's"® Racing Team has hired crew chief Newt Moore to call the shots for the No. 36 "M&M's"® Pontiac and driver Kenny Schrader. Moore, who began his Winston Cup crew career in 1997 with driver Kenny Wallace, most recently worked with Wally Dallenbach at Galaxy Motorsports.
PEDIGREE® Brand Food for Dogs is primary sponsor of the No. 36 Pontiac for six races in 2001 beginning with this weekend in Atlanta. PEDIGREE®, through their sponsorship of Ken Schrader and the No. 36 Pontiac, will donate $10 for every point earned by Schrader in 2001 to animal shelters nationwide through its HOMEWARD BOUND program. Homeward Bound was started by PEDIGREE® to encourage responsible pet adoption and find homes for homeless pets. PEDIGREE's remaining races include The Winston, Coca-Cola 600, Kansas, Dover and Phoenix.
The "M&M's"® Racing Team has strong ties to the Atlanta area thanks to two of the team owners. MB2 Motorsports owners Tom Beard and Read Morton both live and work in Atlanta. Nelson Bowers - the third member of the trio - lives in nearby Chattanooga, Tenn.
