TORRANCE, Calif., March 7 Today, Honda announced that
Everclear, one of today's most popular rock bands, will headline the second
leg of the inaugural Civic Tour this summer. In addition to performing across
the country, lead singer/songwriter Art Alexakis, bassist Craig Montoya and
drummer Greg Eklund will be customizing a Civic Coupe for the Civic Tour's
online sweepstakes. The Civic Tour marks Honda's latest venture into the
music arena and will be an integral part of its coordinated marketing efforts
to introduce the completely redesigned 2001 Honda Civic to the contemporary
youth market.
Everclear, who is currently touring arenas with Matchbox Twenty and
Lifehouse through April, will be hitting the road again in June to headline
their own national summer tour, with Civic Tour sponsoring shows in Ohio,
Connecticut, Missouri, New Jersey, Arizona, California and Utah. Dates,
cities and venues for Civic Tour 2001 featuring Everclear will be announced
prior to the official ticket on-sale date. The first leg of the Civic Tour
kicks off on April 30 in Seattle with pop-punk rockers blink-182 in the driver
seat.
Fans can get a taste of what to expect from Everclear's live performances
by visiting the Civic Tour's official Web site at civictour.com, which
launched March 6. In addition to band pages with biographies, audio tracks,
music videos and customized streaming radio stations from each Civic Tour
artist, the site will feature exciting sweepstakes promotions for blink-182

2001 Honda Civic Coupe, custom-designed by one of the Civic Tour bands with

sweepstakes, gives civictour.com visitors the chance to win a trip to see a
Civic Tour concert, including the opportunity to meet the band. There is no
purchase necessary to enter either sweepstakes. You must be 18 or older to
enter.
"The Civic Tour allows Honda to reach out to our younger consumers through
the music of today's hottest bands, proving that the re-designed Civic is a
perfect fit for their lifestyle," said Eric Conn, Honda Assistant Vice
President, Auto Advertising. Likewise, Everclear is a perfect fit for the
Civic Tour, as their critically-acclaimed lyrics and versatile sound have made
them a lasting favorite in rock music, especially among young adults.
Since signing with Capitol Records in 1994, Everclear's albums have sold
more than six million copies, with their latest releases, "Songs from an
American Movie, Vol. One: Learning to Smile" (July 2000) and "Songs from an
American Movie, Vol. Two: Good Time for a Bad Attitude" (Nov. 2000) combining
for total sales of more than two million. Everclear's honors include a 1999
Grammy nomination for Rock Instrumental Performance and the 1998 Billboard
Award for "Modern Artist of the Year," based on the success of their third
album, "So Much for the Afterglow," which has sold nearly three million copies
since its October 1997 release.
