Delphi Wins NUMMI Triple Crown Award
All Delphi Divisions Honored for Quality and/or Delivery
TROY, Mich., March 7 Delphi Automotive Systems
was honored for its quality, delivery and cost contributions at a New United
Motor Manufacturing Inc. (NUMMI) awards banquet last week in Fremont, Calif.
NUMMI, which is a joint venture between Toyota Motor Manufacturing North
America and General Motors Corp., presented Delphi Delco Electronic Systems
with the prestigious Triple Crown Award, for achieving excellence performance
and meeting all of NUMMI's targets in quality, cost and delivery.
Delphi Delco Electronic Systems, which supplies audio components for the
Toyota Corolla and Chevrolet Prizm manufactured by NUMMI, was awarded for
meeting all cost targets, maintaining a zero parts per million defect rating,
and providing 100 percent on-time delivery in 2000.
"We are very honored that NUMMI has recognized Delphi's commitment to
excellence in quality, cost and delivery," said Jim Damratoski, Delphi's
regional customer manager for Toyota North America. "We strive to continually
meet our customers' world-class standards."
In addition, Delphi divisions receiving certificates of achievement for
meeting NUMMI's targets included:
* Delphi Delco Electronic Systems, cost and quality certificates for
radios and speakers;
* Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems, quality certificate for the Generation
III wheel bearings, quality and delivery certificates for batteries;
* Delphi Harrison Thermal Systems, quality certificate for HVAC modules
and condensors;
* Delphi Interior Systems, quality certificate for door trim;
* Delphi Packard Electric Systems, quality and delivery certificates for
temperature sensors, delivery certificate for wiring harnesses; and
* Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems, quality and delivery certificates for
halfshafts.
