Jacob's Creek & Wyndham Estate Wines Launch The Great Australian Barbeque Cookoff

            - Leading Australian Wineries Give Consumers Chance to
Win a Trip to Australia and a Subaru Outback Sport(TM)
Through Promotion Celebrating Barbeque and Wine -

    NEW YORK, MARCH 7 Jacob's Creek, Australia's best-selling
wine worldwide, and Wyndham Estate, the award winning wine brand, announce the
launch of the Great Australian Barbeque Cookoff. The promotion, which
commenced on March 1, is designed to celebrate the enjoyment of barbeque
cooking and Australian wine.
The Great Australian Barbeque Cookoff invites consumers to send in their
favorite barbeque recipes for a chance to win a trip to Australia and a grand
prize of a new Subaru Outback Sport. Recipes will be judged on originality,
taste appeal and presentation style. Along with submitting an original
recipe, each entrant must recommend a Jacob's Creek or Wyndham Estate wine
that would be best served with their recipe.
Consumers, 21 years of age or older, may pick up Great Australian Barbeque
Cookoff entry forms at participating liquor stores or supermarkets nationwide.
While no purchase is necessary to enter, supermarket shoppers who buy a bottle
of Jacob's Creek or Wyndham Estate wine during the promotion will receive a
$1.00 coupon off the purchase of beef, chicken or fish. Entry forms are also
available at the Jacob's Creek and Wyndham Estate booths at all Food Network
Live Expos throughout the United States. All entries must be received by
September 15, 2001.
"As leading wines of Australia, both Jacob's Creek and Wyndham Estate are
proud to be associated with the great Australian Barbeque tradition," said
Roberta Perillo, Senior Brand Manager for Austin, Nichols & Co., Inc. "The
Great Australian Barbeque Cookoff will strengthen the brand's awareness among
American consumers, and do it in a fun, entertaining way."
After all eligible entries have been collected, eighteen semifinalists,
three for Wyndham Estate and three for Jacob's Creek, will be selected in
three geographical regions. These semifinalists will then compete in regional
Cookoffs that will be judged by Food Network Live celebrity chef David
Rosengarten, along with a panel of local food experts and wine columnists who
will act as guest judges.
Six finalists will then be selected, one Jacob's Creek and one Wyndham
Estate winner from each region, and will receive a 6-day, 7-night trip to
Australia to prepare their own recipes in the Final Cookoff. David
Rosengarten and the panel of judges will then select the best recipe and will
award the winning finalist the Grand Prize, a new Subaru Outback Sport.
In addition to the consumer promotion, Jacob's Creek and Wyndham Estate
are running a promotional contest with local restaurants to benefit a national
charitable organization. The companies will invite chefs at participating
restaurants to prepare a special menu item that will be served to patrons over
the course of a month and will be recommended with a Jacob's Creek or Wyndham
Estate wine. A panel of New York City chefs will then judge each dish and
name the best menu items from each of the three regions. Every restaurant
that participates will have a donation made in its name to a local charity.
The company has committed to donating $15,000 nationwide to this worthy cause.
