SolidSpeed Networks Names NASCAR's Roush Racing Tops in Web Site Speed

                 SolidSpeed's Probester Declares Mark Martin
Of Roush Racing NASCAR's Fastest Web Site

ANN ARBOR, Mich., March 7 SolidSpeed Networks, Inc., a
leader in "edge" distributed computing technology, has declared Mark Martin of
Roush Racing the winner in this week's NASCAR Web site race.

Jeff Gordon may have won Sunday's UAW-Daimler Chrysler 400 in Las Vegas,
but among his peers, Mark Martin of Roush Racing has the fastest NASCAR Web
site. That's according to research conducted by SolidSpeed Networks using
their new data engine, Probester. SolidSpeed measured Web site download
speeds for Joe Gibbs Racing, Bill Davis Racing, Roush Racing, Tony Stewart,
Ward Burton, Jeff Gordon, Dale Jarrett, and Mark Martin Web over a period of
four days. (View the Mark Martin and Roush Racing web site at:

"Probester data indicates the T-3, T-1 or cable modem user is typically
getting a Web page in 2-4 seconds while a dial-up user on a 56k modem has to
wait 20 seconds, said SolidSpeed Networks President and CEO, Neil Dueweke.
"Roush Racing has the fastest site across all non-dial up Internet connections
whether Web surfers use DSL, cable modem, T-1, or the 'fastest of the fast' --
a T-3 line." (To view graph click:

"All NASCAR Web sites get tremendous volume leading up to and directly
following a race. The Web sites have to be fine-tuned like the cars they
represent because millions of people are accessing the same sites at the same
time," Dueweke added. "Its like a traffic jam on the starting line; everyone
is jockeying to get to the pole position, and in the case of the Web site,
everybody wants to go on online at the same time."
SolidSpeed Probester is able to measure the end-user experience all the
way out on the last mile because it uses the idle computing time of thousands
of networked computers. By delivering this information to Web developers,
they can determine if their site is well designed for optimal speed. "Most
end-users will abandon their electronic shopping carts and the site itself
with 8 second Web page downloads," said Greg Howard, principal analyst at The
HTRC Group. "SolidSpeed's Probester presents a new way to measure Web site
performance from the end-user perspective."
"We've noticed our site is handling more traffic than the other NASCAR
sites because of our site design optimization. This ultimately translates
into more sales and more impressions for our sponsors," says Geoff Smith,
President of Roush Racing. "When speed gets into your blood, you want to do
everything fast."

    How It Works
Invisible to the PC user, Probester is embedded in a background process of
computer users who volunteer the use of idle computation time on their PCs. A
small number of URLs are sent to a PC to probe on an infrequent basis.
Probester then performs its measurements as instructed, connects to the
SolidSpeed system and uploads the information. Collected over a predefined
period of time, the data is processed and ultimately provided to the end
customer in the form of statistics and graphs depicting reliability and speed.
