Oshkosh Truck Subsidiary, Pierce Manufacturing, is Only Fire Truck Manufacturer to be Official Supplier of the 2001 World Police & Fire Games
OSHKOSH, Wis.--March 6, 2001--Oshkosh Truck Corporation announced today that Pierce Manufacturing Inc., the leading U.S. manufacturer of custom fire apparatus, will be an official supplier to the 2001 World Police & Fire Games, held June 8-16 in Indianapolis, Ind. Pierce is the only fire apparatus manufacturer to support the Games as an official supplier.Pierce will provide a custom Lance(R) pumper for display throughout the Games. In addition to the Lance pumper, Pierce will provide financial support for this non-profit event to help facilitate participation by competitors from around the world. The company's total contributions are valued at over $100,000.

Pierce displayed the Lance pumper at the Fire Department Instructors Conference March 2-4 in Indianapolis, Ind.
The World Police & Fire Games are held every two years and bring together firefighters and police officers from 60 countries for some of the toughest athletic competition on the planet. An estimated 10,000 athletes are expected to compete this year. The size of this competition is comparable to the Summer Olympics.
The Games include more than 350 different events in 70 sports. Events include a mix of traditional Olympic sports such as track and field, cycling, swimming and boxing. In addition, they include public safety-related events such as S.W.A.T. team competition, muster, police service dogs and T.C.A. (Toughest Competitor Alive)
