U.S. Automotive Market Warms Up to Climate Control
Systems
CARDIFF, Wales, March 6 AB Automotive Electronics Ltd., a
leading supplier of automotive climate control systems, switches and
electronic controls, is experiencing steady growth in its export sales based
on programs with North American automakers and Tier-One suppliers. North
American sales for the TT Group subsidiary, based in Cardiff, U.K., are
expected to exceed $35 million in 2004 from $2.9 million in 1999. In response
to this growth, ABAE has established a customer support center in Detroit,
Michigan to complement its established U.S. manufacturing facility near
Raleigh, N.C. and to provide additional engineering assistance to the North
American automotive market.
In recognition of this export performance, based primarily on the new
business won in North America, ABAE was named "Welsh Exporter of the Year" for
2000 by the Welsh Development Agency.
"Our continued success in winning business with U.S. automakers and Tier-
One suppliers reflects our ongoing commitment to providing the same level of
customer service, design support and technology innovation in North America as
we do in Europe," said sales and marketing director Dean Fisher. "And we are
increasing our North American presence to maintain that level of support by
announcing the establishment of a technical support center in the Detroit
area."
By implementing this support center, staffed by a business development
manager along with a team of mechanical and electronic engineers, AB
Automotive Electronics aims to strengthen customer support and cultivate more
long-term business opportunities with U.S. automakers, Fisher continued.
Featuring mechanical and electrical design and development facilities, the
Detroit center offers continued support for current business endeavors while
securing the necessary resources to establish new programs.
