NASCAR WCUP: Ford Credit donates $12,500 to Komen Foundation after Jarrett's performance

DEARBORN, Mich., - Dale Jarrett's success in Las Vegas this weekend results in a $12,500 donation from Ford Credit to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to help in its mission to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. Jarrett finished in second place in Sunday's UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway after winning the pole position during Friday's qualifying.

Ford Credit, associate sponsor of the - 88 - UPS Ford Taurus, gives the Komen Foundation $10,000 for each of Jarrett's victories, $5,000 for each pole, $7,500 for each second-place finish and $5,000 for each third-place finish over the course of the NASCAR season. Ford Credit has donated $505,000 to the Komen Foundation based on Jarrett's on-track and end-of-season bonuses since 1998.

In addition, Ford Credit is again sponsoring a Race Fans for a Cure* booth at various NASCAR Winston Cup events and Ford Racing Fan Appreciation Days during the 2001 season. Race Fans for a Cure* is an initiative designed to increase awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection, and to provide a way for fans to support the Komen Foundation. Race Fans for a Cure* booths raised $33,000 last year.

Jarrett is fourth in the NASCAR Winston Cup points standings heading into this weekend's Cracker Barrel 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
