Delphi, Harman, Moll and Timken to Receive
French Award in Detroit
Companies Represent a Growing Trend Of
U.S. Auto Suppliers Expanding Operations in France
DETROIT, March 5 France has been experiencing record
industrial investment in the last few years by convincing North American
automakers and suppliers to set up or expand operations there. Six years ago,
as a way of thanking the auto industry, the French government established the
Invest in France Automotive Awards -- awarded to those auto-related companies
which have made the most significant progress in starting or growing their
French operations during the previous year.
This year, Delphi Automotive Systems, Harman International industries,
Moll Industries and The Timken Company have been chosen as the winners. The
awards will be presented at a cocktail reception Tuesday, March 6, from
6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Pontchartrain Hotel, organized by the Invest in France
Agency, the French agency for international investment. Deloitte & Touche LLP
is the corporate sponsor of the event.
Accepting the honors for their respective companies are: Guy C. Hachey,
president, Delphi Energy and Chassis Systems Division and vice president,
Delphi Automotive Systems; Gregory P. Stapleton, president & COO, Harman
International Industries; George Votis, chairman & CEO, Moll Industries; and
James W. Griffith, president & COO of The Timken Company.

facilities in France. Many suppliers, including Honeywell Turbo, Delphi,
Meritor (Rockwell), and TRW maintain operations at as many as five different
sites each. Since 1993, North American auto component manufacturers have
invested in over 50 major development projects.
