Federal-Mogul to Supply Pistons for Future Nissan Engine
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 5 Federal-Mogul Corporation
has been awarded a contract to design and produce pistons for an
all-new V8 engine to be introduced on a Nissan full-size pickup truck that
will be produced in the United States after 2003.
This is Federal-Mogul's first piston business with Nissan Motor
Manufacturing Corporation, Nissan's North American manufacturing operation
based in Smyrna, Tennessee. Federal-Mogul currently supplies Nissan with
pistons in Europe, and piston rings in North America and Europe.
Federal-Mogul will produce the pistons at its LaGrange, Georgia,
manufacturing plant and deliver them to Nissan Motor Manufacturing
Corporation's engine plant in Decherd, Tennessee.
"We are thrilled that Nissan selected Federal-Mogul piston technology for
this important engine program, and we look forward to supporting Nissan's
development of a world-class full-size pickup for North America," said Michael
C. Verwilst, senior vice president, Powertrain Systems, Federal-Mogul. "This
agreement resulted from our excellent reputation in pistons, as well as the
cooperation, support and hard work of Federal-Mogul team members in North
America, Japan and Europe."
