News from Kenworth: Introduces T300 Hydraulic Brake Option

Kenworth Truck Company expanded its medium-duty product offering today by introducing a hydraulic brake option for its T300 Class 6 model.

Kenworth made the announcement in conjunction with the Commercial Truck, Trailer and Technology Expo (T3 2001) in Baltimore, which is sponsored by the National Truck Equipment Association.

Kenworth now offers Bosch hydraulic disc brakes as an option for the T300 Class 6 model, which carries a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,000 pounds. The braking system comes with the Bosch HydroMax(TM) brake booster, WABCO ABS modulator valve, and Bosch zero offset pin slide calipers.

"The new hydraulic brake option significantly expands the range of Kenworth's T300 model, which has received national recognition as the industry's top customer-rated, medium duty truck," said Steve Gilligan, Kenworth general marketing manager. "Many customers are already familiar with hydraulic brakes and Kenworth can now offer the T300 equipped to meet their needs."

The hydraulic brake option is available on the T300 Class 6 model with a Caterpillar 3126E engine with horsepower range of 190 to 250 hp, and Eaton Fuller 6-speed transmission. It also includes a cable-actuated driveline parking brake. In addition, the vehicle comes with a Dana Spicer I-80S front axle rated at 8,000 pounds and a Dana Spicer 19060S rear axle rated at 18,000 pounds.

"Because of the availability of the hydraulic brake option, we expect that medium-duty customers will be taking a closer look at the Kenworth T300," Gilligan said. "We have a premium product and will work closely with customers to meet their medium-duty needs."

Production of the T300 Class 6 vehicle with hydraulic brakes is scheduled to begin in late April.
