Viasystems Officially Opens Their New Facility in Shanghai
ST. LOUIS--March 2, 2001--Shanghai Viasystems EMS Company Limited, the wholly owned subsidiary of Viasystems Asia Pacific Limited, officially opened March 2, 2001. Government officials including Mr. Chen Xian Guo, Party Committee Secretary of Jiading District, Mr. Jin Jian Zhong, Head of Jiading District, Mr. Wang Yi De, Vice Head of Jiading District, Mr. Timothy Conlon, President and COO of Viasystems Group Inc. and Mr. Anthony Hoon, General Manager of Shanghai Viasystems EMS Co. Ltd. attended this event and officiated the ribbon cutting ceremony.The 150,000 square foot facility in Shanghai will serve customers in the Asia-Pacific region as a full systems integration center. Manufacturing capabilities for Shanghai Viasystems EMS Co. Ltd. include enhanced backplane and SMT assembly, metal fabrication, assembly of metal enclosures, full component and systems integration such as metal racks, frames, thermal management systems, power supplies, cable harnessing, systems test and logistics.
During the opening ceremony, Viasystems' President and COO, Timothy L. Conlon said, "Viasystems understands the opportunities and benefits of having world-class manufacturing facilities." Conlon went on to say, "The abundant talent available in Shanghai will maintain Viasystems' position as a market leader in the electronics manufacturing industry."
