Toyota Reports Strong February Sales

TORRANCE, Calif., March 1 Toyota Motor Sales (TMS),
U.S.A., Inc., today reported strong February sales of 123,959 vehicles. Total
vehicle sales were up 1.0 percent on a daily selling-rate basis compared to
the same period last year.

"The recent modest decline in auto sales show how a dip in consumer
confidence can be offset by continued strength in consumer spending," said
Jim Press, TMS executive vice president and COO. "The economy's slow-growth
soft landing is an encouraging sign."

The Toyota Division posted steady February sales of 108,757, up
0.2 percent. The Lexus Division enjoyed best-ever February sales of
15,202 sales, an increase of 6.8 percent over the previous record set last
year.

Toyota Division light trucks recorded a best-ever February with total
sales of 48,361, up 18.9 percent over last year's record-setting mark. The
RAV4 compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) led the light-truck charge with
best-ever February sales of 6,262, up 85.8 percent. The all-new Highlander
mid-size SUV posted impressive sales with 5,069 units sold, while the all-new
Sequoia full-size SUV recorded sales of 5,002. The Tacoma compact pickup
recorded 12,039 sales, an increase of 5.4 percent. The continued popularity
of the Prius gas/electric hybrid sedan resulted in 1,198 sales.

The Lexus Divisions record-breaking February was sparked by strong
passenger car sales with 8,834 units sold, up 38.8 percent. The redesigned LS
430 luxury sedan led the way with 2,804 units sold, up
222.4 percent. The all-new IS 300 sport sedan posted steady sales of 1,574.

Sales of North American-built vehicles made up 62.2 percent of total
February sales. There were 24 selling days in February compared to 25 last
year.
