Electronic Data Systems Signs European
Facility Management Agreement With Johnson Controls;
Agreement Expands Global Relationship
ATLANTA, March 1 Johnson Controls has won a
five-year contract worth approximately $87 million to manage non-core business
facilities management for Electronic Data Systems (EDS), a global
leader in outsourcing IT services and consulting. This is the first time EDS
has outsourced its full facility management services in Europe, underlining
the growing trend for international companies to drive total outsourcing in
Europe.
Under the contract, which guarantees shared savings, Johnson Controls will
supply a total facilities management service by managing 67 sites around the
UK, comprising mostly office and data center sites with some warehouses. The
contract covers a wide range of services from maintenance to switchboard,
catering and cleaning, plus minor works up to $36,000. Johnson Controls,
which provides facility management services for EDS in the U.S. and South
Africa, will also be the preferred supplier for project work.
"To be selected to provide a total facilities management service for EDS,
who themselves specialize in IT outsourcing, is a very exciting opportunity
for Johnson Controls," says Robert Netolicka, President, Johnson Controls,
Integrated Facility Management. "The scope of the contract demonstrates the
breadth of our offering and I am delighted to see our reputation further
strengthened in the IT business sector. The European agreement expands our
global relationship with EDS and global service delivery is what we are all
about."
"EDS is a dynamic and growing organization that is flexible and quick to
market in responding to its customers' needs," says Nigel Baker, Director of
EMEA Real Estate at EDS. "We believe that Johnson Controls is the right
partner to help deliver consistency of customer service and added value across
our UK sites.
"We are well aware of the business benefits of outsourcing in terms of
streamlining processes, increasing productivity and reducing costs. We are
particularly pleased with the aligned commercial model developed with Johnson
Controls, which will be a key factor in helping achieve our core business
objectives," adds Baker.
