NASCAR WCUP: Ken Schrader likes wide and smooth racing at Las Vegas

Schrader's Thoughts On Las Vegas...

"Vegas has all the components to put on a great race. You can pass anywhere because the track is nice and wide and smooth. We didn't do a lot of passing there last year, but that doesn't mean we can't. As for this year, the "M&M's"® Racing Team is looking for blue skies. Last year we were having a great run before it started raining on us. We started in the back but had gotten all the way up to 16th. We weren't just riding around either, we were really moving up."

Schrader's Las Vegas Highlights...

The "M&M's"® Racing Team has moved into a new shop in Concord, N.C., near the Concord Regional Airport. The Two-car operation will share the fabrication shop, which is flanked on either side by chassis shops for both the No. 36 and No. 10 Pontiacs.

The countdown has started for "M&M's"® Racing Team driver Ken Schrader's next career milestone. Schrader -- with 494 consecutive Winston Cup starts in his career - is set to make his 500th career start on Sunday, April 8, 2001 at Martinsville Speedway. This feat will make him the 22nd driver in NASCAR Winston Cup history (1949-2000) to start 500 races. His streak began on July 14, 1984 in Nashville, Tenn., in a car owned by Elmo Langley.

The search for THE MOST COLORFUL FAN(tm) of NASCAR is officially underway. The most colorful fans from each race are posted on the web site www.colorfulfan.com every Monday. Voters and fans can win one of 18 trips for four to the Las Vegas race in 2002.

Schrader will be signing autographs at M&M's WORLD(tm) on the Las Vegas strip on Thursday, March 1, from 5-7 p.m. M&M's WORLD(tm) is located beside the MGM Grand Hotel. Schrader will then travel straight to NASCAR Café to sign autographs from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
