Experian's Automotive Information Services Division Announces Agreement with Ugly Duckling

ORANGE, Calif.--Feb. 28, 2001--Experian, a leading provider of global information solutions, today announced that its automotive information services division has signed an agreement with Ugly Duckling to provide the national used car giant with Experian's Auto History report.
Experian's Auto History provides businesses and consumers with an in-depth look at the history of previously owned vehicles. The database detects evidence of hidden problems that may affect vehicle safety and value, such as past reported damage or insurance claims, odometer roll back, title transactions and brand status.
"Experian's Auto History will provide Ugly Duckling with a daily report alerting them immediately to any potential problems with the used vehicles they purchase on any given day from any of their sources," said John Jira, president of Experian's automotive information services business unit.
"This will allow them to protect their customers and their investment by providing them confidence that the vehicles Ugly Duckling buys and sells have clean histories."
Steve Rice, director of inventory for Ugly Duckling Car Sales, said: "We are very focused on providing the highest quality vehicles to our customers. Experian's unparalleled ability to source and provide quality automotive history data to us made them our first choice as a partner."
With more than 300 million vehicles in its database, Experian's Auto History sources include U.S. and Canadian motor vehicle title, registration and mileage records, auto auction mileage readings, insurance total loss and major damage records, body shop mileage readings and supplemental salvage yard records.
