Collins & Aikman Appoints Youngman Director, Corporate Communications

    TROY, Mich.--Feb. 28, 2001--Collins & Aikman today announced that David Youngman has been promoted to Director of Corporate Communications, reporting directly to Jonathan Peisner, Senior Vice President of Investor Relations, Communications and Business Planning. Youngman was previously Manager of Visual Communications for the Company.
    In his new role, Youngman will oversee the Company's employee communications, media relations, advertising and marketing communications. He will also play a lead role in further building the Company's global brand image through web based communication efforts as well as the creation of internal and external communication collateral. In making the announcement, Peisner stated, "Youngman has played a key role in pictorially communicating the vision, product offerings and technological capabilities of Collins & Aikman to our employees, customers and shareholders. Going forward, I'm confident that our communications program will further benefit from his expanded role."
    Youngman has over fifteen years of automotive experience. Before joining Collins & Aikman in 1999, he was a member of Lear Corporation's Visual Communications Group where he managed Lear's corporate identity program and created high profile presentations for their global customers. Prior to Lear, Youngman worked at Automotive Industries, Inc. and FiberCraft/DEScon.
