McIntosh Wins OEM Contract with Subaru To Supply High-End Audio

DETROIT, Feb. 28 McIntosh Laboratory, Inc., a Clarion
company, has announced that it has been awarded a contract with Subaru of
America, Inc. to supply the McIntosh Audiophile Sound System. This high-end
audio system is featured on the 2001 Subaru Outback Wagon H6-3.0 VDC.

This is the first Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) factory installed
high-end sound system by McIntosh Laboratory, Inc. in the U.S. In 1998,
Subaru first introduced the McIntosh system into the Japanese OEM market and
with its success decided to launch it in the U.S. The McIntosh system for
Subaru includes AM/FM/CD/cassette control center, a five-channel amplifier
with integral equalizer, a 6" x 9" subwoofer, a pair of tweeters and four 6.5"
coax speakers. The head unit offers ergonomically designed controls that are
easy to see and simple to use while incorporating the renowned McIntosh high
quality and durability.

Charlie Randall, VP of Engineering and head of OEM activities at McIntosh
Laboratory, Inc. states "This contract is an important milestone for McIntosh
in developing our diversification strategy. Subaru is among the fastest
growing brands in the automobile industry so their success, along with our
brand recognition for high quality powered sound, make for a successful
partnership. Opportunities for future OEM business are also appearing to be
on the close horizon."

McIntosh has over fifty years of expertise in home audio innovation and
patented technology such as the unique PowerGuard(R) and LD/HP(R) both which
are featured in the Outback system.

The McIntosh PowerGuard(R) technology allows the system to play at low
distortion right to its 200-watt power peak. The exclusive LD/HP(R) designed
into the drivers of the speakers to stabilize the magnetic field to produce a
dramatic reduction of distortion components and eliminates dynamic limiting.
Both result in drivers having unsurpassed audio sound clarity with low
distortion and high power handling.
