MIDGETS: WTQMA Releases Preliminary 2001 Schedule

Davenport, IA - The Winged Three-Quarter Midget Association's 2001 season will include a new venue and a return to the Mercer County Fairgrounds in 2001.

The WTQMA did not compete at the Mercer County Fairgrounds in 2000, but since MCF has come under new management, four events have been scheduled at the facility in 2001. The Mercer County Fairgrounds is located in Aledo, IL, and is a quarter mile semi-banked clay oval.

Jefferson County Speedway, located in Fairfield, IA, will also be hosting WTQMA events in 2001 including an exciting doubleheader weekend in July during the Jefferson County Fair. The Jefferson County Speedway is also a quarter mile semi-banked clay oval.

Hawkeye Raceway returns to the WTQMA schedule for 2001 after having one race scheduled during the annual "October Fest" held late last year. The WTQMA makes two appearances at the raceway in 2001, the first being the season opener on April 21 and the other roars into town June 16. Hawkeye Raceway hosts weekly modified races on their one-third mile high-banked clay oval. The WTQMA, however, will be competing on the smaller one-fifth mile clay oval, which is cleverly located inside the one third mile oval.
